The main learning outcome of this curricular unit is to provide an integrated view of the mechanisms of the organization and flow of genetic information from DNA to protein in eukaryotic organisms.

Students are expected to understand the following:

- Molecular mechanisms of DNA replication;

- Molecular mechanisms of DNA repair and recombination;

- Molecular mechanisms of transcription;

- Molecular mechanisms of pre-mRNA processing;

- Molecular mechanisms of mRNA translation.
